Anyone who follows my advice about mail order brides blindly because I married a Ukrainian woman is an idiot.

Anyone who dismisses my thoughts entirely because they don't like me, or because they have a fondness for some mail order brides dating agency owner that I do not, is similarly an idiot.

If you are engaged in this search, don't be fooled: It is hard. You should find advice and knowledge wherever you can. Think about it, try it out, and make it yours. You won't agree with everyone, nor even with someone every time... but the collective discussions on this mail order brides board are a good place to start.

Those who succeeded have done so in part because of luck (or fate, or Providence, however you want to say it...)

But, no one succeeds on luck alone. Jmark's thought process as he looks back on his search is valuable to guys still starting out. He may not be as far along as KenC is in this, but he is still farther than all of the guys sitting in their easy-chairs and playing "What If?"

As for his list (Wow, how about that, an attempt at trying to get back on topic...) My take (FWIW):

Don't do it (search for mail order brides) if:

1) You are desperate.
1 -- agree

2) You can't get a date at home.
2 -- agree in part... depends on why you can't get a date at home... but I understand what he means, and concur.

3) You think you are getting old.
3 -- don't agree nor disagree... I think it's kind of silly. I don't think anyone who does this thinks they are too old...

4) The opinion of this board says don't do it.
4 -- Disagree strongly. The opinion of this mail order brides board is not God, nor even the Oracle at Delphi. I have read a lot of advice on here that was just plain silly. Hell, I don't even completely agree with the mail order brides "Tablets of Stone". I would say rather: "Don't do it if you can let your life be ruled by the opinions of a bunch of guys you've never met, and who don't know you" That would make more sense, IMHO. if you need relationship advice from a group of strangers (who may or may not have your best interests at heart) you shouldn't even be considering this mail order brides search, IMHO. mail order brides proposals
