If you went in April for five months you'd be there for the best weather of the year, including white nights, which is spectacular.

In my experience, the idea that mail order brides from St. Pete are more demanding is inaccurate. Sure there are some extremely wealthy people there, but the majority of St. Petersburg residents seem to live about like anyone else in Russia, except that they live in the most beautiful city in the country.

Personally, I'd go crazy living in a place like Tver for five months. Tver is a nice place to visit for a week or two, but there are only so many times you can walk along the river and still around the small downtown.

Pechorin - Interesting point. I agree that it would be much nicer to live in a place like St. Petersburg, but I am not sure if I believe that the chances of finding mail order brides to marry are as good there as in a more provincial city. Trying my best to understand the motivation of the mail order brides, I would suggest that it might be a mixture of (hopefully) genuine attraction, the novelty of being with a westerner, and the promise of a better life. Plus economic security and access to all the amenities (trappings?) of western life, such as modern housing, new cars, good restaurants, cinemas, etc. I don't think westerners are much of a novelty in St. Pete (lots of drunken Finns there I am sure) and it probably has everything that any western metropolis has to offer. While I am sure that there are many people there that are looking for economic security, there are also a lot of very rich Russians who earn much more than I could ever hope for. So, all in all, less motivation for marrying a foreigner. This is all speculation of course, since I lack all practical experience, and I apologize if I am totally wrong.
