MAIL Order Brides and a few visa questions

I have a few mail order brides fiancée visa questions: After the lady arrives in the US, can she freely travel back and forth between the US and Ukraine before the marriage occurs? How about the period between the marriage and the green card?

The reason I ask is that my fiancé has an 11-year old son. We both think that it would be best to wait until his school year is over at the end of May 2006, before he travels to the US. But she and I do not want to wait that long. It would be helpful if she can go back to visit her son whenever she wants to during the interim period between when she arrives in the US and when her son finishes school. I have read that the mail order brides K1 fiancee visa is for a single entry, and the consular officer may issue another visa during the 90-day period, but might this cause suspicion?

My other question has to do with a statement I read on the embassy website: "We also advise applicants not to take/quit jobs, sell property, or terminate leases until a visa is actually issued." My take on this statement is similar to "don't count your chickens before they hatch." But my mail order brides fiancée is worried because I am starting a new job, moving from Texas to California, selling my house in Texas, and terminating a lease on an apartment in Michigan, all during the visa process. Now, none of these is a consequence of my fiancée and will occur regardless. Has anybody had similar issues?

There's a separate section on the site for pre-marriage mail order brides visa/immigration matters. Next time, you'll be better serve to post your Qs there.

GaryC and Jetrim are our resident 'pros' with the mail order brides visa questions, so hopefully they may give you deeper insights than I can in what you need to know. But I'll try...

The first part of your question is leading me to tell you that if her son's school is utmost for both of you, then you're left with no option but wait. Her visa, once approved and granted, is good for 6 months. This may require that you take one or two more trips to Russia if the period of absence/wait is unbearable for both of you. Unless of course the reason for her leaving during the K-1 period is deemed an urgent emergency (terminal illness/death in the family), you may get some sort of consideration, but other than that I wouldn't chance it. mail order brides visa questions
